(After the opening, we fade in with NC in his chair.)

NC: Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I remember it so you don't have to. So we've talked about "movie movies" before.

(cue clips of Epic Movie, Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie)

NC (vo): The parody film craze that satirized flicks before even seeing most of them. But not all of them are the death of cinema. For example, I heard this wasn't that bad (shows poster for Not Another Teen Movie). And... I heard this wasn't that bad (shows poster for Not Another Teen Movie again). (Clips of Superhero Movie are shown) But of all the parody movies that came out around this time, Superhero Movie...

NC: (shrugs as he cuts to the point) ... is still bad, but not Disaster Movie bad.

(More clips of Superhero Movie are shown)

NC (vo): Contrary to what you might believe, Seltzer and Frieberg had nothing to do with this one. It was instead written and directed by Craig Mazin who created (shows a poster for HBO's Chernobyl) ... huh, and (shows a poster for HBO's The Last of Us) ... huh. Okay, I'm just going to pretend I didn't see those and talk about how this movie was satirizing the superhero flicks that came out around the early 2000s. (shows a poster for Deadpool & Wolverine) There seems to be a little bit of nostalgia around recently, particularly when it comes to comedy, so I figure I'll give this film a look. From what I've heard, its reputation isn't good, but it's not...

(cut to a clip from Disaster Movie that features...)

Flavor Flav: Flavor! Flav! Yeah!

NC (vo): ... that. (cut back to the Superhero Movie clips are shown.) I've heard that there's one or two moments that do work, so I'm going to look over this spandex clinging mess to see if I can find a few laughs.

NC: So let's flame on-bub-with great responsibility, Howard the Duck, this is Superhero Movie.

(We open on Rick Riker enter the school bus after chasing it)

NC (vo): The movie opens up with a teen named Rick Riker, played by Drake Bell -

NC: - Hmm, that name sounds familiar. Why do I feel like I've seen him in something recently? (NC pulls out his phone to do some research on Bell, only to be shocked by all the controversy the actor has been in for the last couple of years) Well that's a lot to unpack, I'm just going to make poop jokes. -

(back to the film as Riker runs into the wing mirror of the bus, and gets hit by the swinging stop sign)

NC (vo): - as he's clearly imitating Peter Parker from the first Spider-Man movie.

NC (vo): The story of my life is not for the faint of heart.

NC: Even in a parody, that line is terrible.

NC (vo): He's in love with a girl named Jill Johnson, but he spends most of his time with his friend Trey, played by Kevin Hart.

NC: Actually, this film has quite a few names in the world of comedy.

(as NC goes through the actors in the movie, we see quick clips of them in their roles)
