I just imagined how this review would go, which is basically the same as actually reviewing it.

(Linkara is sitting in his futon, surrounded by Pokémon franchise.)

Linkara: Hello, and welcome to Atop the Fourth Wall, where bad comics burn. Patreon-sponsored review time again... (A beat as he looks around.) You think I'm too much into Pokémon? (He shows off a Bulbasaur glove puppet and looks at it.) Yeah, I'm probably fine.

(Clips from the Pokémon anime play.)

Linkara (vo): I've looked at various parts of the franchise, but this will be our first time actually visiting the Pokémon anime and all of its insanely long and continually disappointing moments. Yeah, yeah. We've all heard the same critiques of the show. Ash never wins the tournaments, Ash's character development tends to get rest, Ash Ketchum will never get past age ten...

(Back to Linkara.)

Linkara: Remember, any time you've heard about him not being ten, it was added by the dub. Even if an entire year has passed, and the acknowledge that year of time, HE'S STILL TEN!

(Clips from the Pokémon anime play.)

Linkara (vo): The tournament thing is especially frustrating because...well, he has won some major things. The anime-only Orange Islands arc had him winning that. Beat the champion and everything. He defeated the Battle Frontier and was offered a position as a Frontier Brain. In X and Y, he made it into the finals and lost, but should've won on a technicality because his opponent turned out to be allied with a terrorist group.

(Back to Linkara.)

Linkara: I admit, I don't actively watch the show on a week-to-week basis anymore, but I do check out the League Tournaments, because they tend to be some of the best battles...most of the time, anyway. I will never forgive "we couldn't think of any way for Ash to lose except by having some rando show up with a team of Legendaries".

(The At4W theme song rolls, then the title card comes up as Rival Destinies plays in the background.)

Linkara (vo): The gym leader, Skyla, lands the plane that we saw in the teaser.
