Birdman is a character from Space Ghost Coast to Coast and the protagonist of a series of videos created by Konnichiku on the Channel Awesome Wiki. He is a hapless retired superhero with an affinity for birds.

History[]

Birdman was born to a superhero family on September 9, 1967 as Harvey Birdman. No middle name is known for him yet. He grew up a normal life, as normal as a superhero's life can get, surviving what he calls "the satanic 80s" (one could assume he's referring to the Satanic Panic) by collecting various toys and media. At some point, he met his wife Sylvia, otherwise known as Gravity Girl, and together they were two lovebirds, with "Muskrat Love" by Captain & Tennille being "their song."

However, Birdman's life took a turn for the worse in the 90s. In 1993, he was hired by Cartoon Network to do a talk show, with Lokar as the composer and Moltar as the director. It was to be called "Birdman Coast to Coast." Sadly, Birdman could NOT do a good job hosting, as he believed he had his career riding on the show, and Sylvia, who he was going through some tough times with. Being constantly made fun of by Lokar did NOT help. Eventually, Birdman passed out due to the lack of sunlight, and he lost his job as the host, to be replaced with Space Ghost. He would become a camper salesman in Indiana.

Birdman would try a few more times to get his own show, almost close to succeeding one time, before being laid off by the Cartoon Network in 1996. He finally got his wish to headline a show in 1999 when Space Ghost was sent to jail for abusing his teen sidekicks in the past. Birdman proved to be much more efficient at hosting this time around, but unfortunately to him, he could not get Sylvia back, as she was dating someone new (Falcon-7, Birdman's former boss.) However, Space Ghost escaped from jail and upon finding Birdman in his studio, insulted him, calling him a "Six Piece Chicken McNobody." Thankfully, with the help of Captain & Tennille (the guests for that episode), Space Ghost apologized to Birdman and became his friend.

Birdman, feeling inspired, took the time to show off his media collection when he discovered the Internet.

Appearance[]

Birdman is a muscular Caucasian man dressed in a golden getup with black trunks. He has a yellow striped collar around his neck and wears a blue cowl with a yellow top adorned with a sun symbol. He also wears a black mask akin to Wolverine's. Between his shirt and his trunks is a red waistband.

Personality[]

Birdman is a downbeat, down-on-his-luck individual, often nervous and tending to have nervous breakdowns. He is also very awkward, especially in public. However, he is very passionate about his toys and media, in particular liking Cabbage Patch Kids. He was oft made fun of for liking Cabbage Patch Kids in high school. Birdman tries to act superficial in front of the camera, saying stuff like "Have you heard about that grunge music the kids are into nowadays?" when in reality, he loves grunge, especially No Doubt. Also to note about Birdman is that childish things scare him, more specifically, logos like the 1998 Sesame Street website bumper and the "Surprise" variant of the 1993 PBS Kids logo.

Birdman oft wishes to go back to the 90s, as he feels he wants to correct the mistakes he made back then and he generally likes the vibe it had. This leads to his videos having a 90s aesthetic, and he listens to vaporwave. Eventually, in the Konnichiku Endgame crossover event, Birdman sells his soul to go back to the 90s, where he finds out he cannot correct his mistakes no matter what he does, and learns it's best to learn from his mistakes and improve as a person, while demanding a refund on his soul.

Birdman also has endosomatophilia (a fetish for the insides of people's bodies) and seeks out video games and TV episodes about the human body for endo content. He is notably disturbed by The Magic School Bus because they go inside children, and is turned off by the insides of women (implying he's bi.)

Of course, Birdman does care about his pet eagle, Avenger. He has been shown caring for him and feeding him in at least one video, and in another, he claims one of his favorite pastimes besides technology is "petting Avenger like he's a James Bond villain." He also misses his wife, Sylvia, even though he's moved on from her.
