80's Dan is a show by Brad Jones. The show is structured as a parody to sitcoms from the 80s, complete with a fake sounding laugh track. Dan, who inadvertently time-travelled to the present day from December 31, 1989, lives with his roommate, Dolly, and his robot, Rob. Their neighbors are Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree. Dan introduces his friends to things from the 80s that they may have forgotten. It premiered on TGWTG.com on February 9th, 2011.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The character of Rob is actually a R.O.B. accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Released in 1985, R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy) only had two compatible games released before being discontinued. Despite having many critics, R.O.B. has found a warm place in the hearts of nostalgic gamers, making appearances in recent games like Mario Kart DS and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • In the "World Games" episode, a fake "commercial break" is inserted halfway through, complete with 80's sitcom style commercial bumper, drawn by DeviantArt user thatDMan. The commercial is for the 1988 Bobcat Goldthwait and John Candy film, "Hot to Trot." Brad first used this gag in his "Satan's School for Girls" episode of The Cinema Snob, breaking from the review three times to show a commercial from the 70's. This looks to be a regular feature of future "80's Dan" episodes.
  • The Theme song is the theme "Good-bye, Blues" from 80's drama "Hawaiian Heat"
